The video and play were written and produced by the HEARTS Board Members of the Srewolf & Nitram Foundation. They aimed to raise awareness about gun violence in Chicago. All the actors involved in the production had personal experiences with gun violence in the area. The play was funded by donations, which played a crucial role in addressing various societal needs related to gun violence, such as entrepreneurial training, literacy programs, job training, and providing assistance to the homeless. Additionally, the donations supported initiatives in civic engagement, human rights, and offering 24-hour emergency housing referrals. The organization also contributed to the Flint water crisis by delivering over 1000 bottles of water through the generous support of donors.
Furthermore, the donations contributed to the Youth Restorative Justice Program, benefiting numerous individuals over the years. The organization used the funds to purchase school books for college students, provide food for the homeless, support agricultural projects in Africa, offer counseling for addicts, and supply clothing such as coats, sweaters, uniforms for Chicago Public School students, as well as essential items like book bags, pencils, paper, glue, calculators, compasses, and toiletries including deodorant, shampoo, and toothpaste. In 2019 alone, the organization assisted more than 250 people, including children, homeless individuals, and the elderly. It also aided ex-offenders in starting their own businesses and becoming active community volunteers.
The Srewolf & Nitram Foundation has been fortunate to have the support of various sponsors throughout its journey, including Baker's Square, Chipotle, Facebook Friends, Fatherhood Educational Institute, First National Bank, Home Depot, Jamaican Mango, Jewel-Osco, Lansing Cleaners, Lime, Marquette Bank, Meijer Hypermarket, Panera Bread, PepBoys, Target, and Walmart.
While the organization does not charge its clients for the services it provides, donations play a crucial role in enabling them to continue their valuable work in the community. Your contributions make a significant difference in the lives of those they serve.
